Bikes Belong. In 1998, at the Bicycle Product Suppliers Association conference, Catalyst CEO Leslie Bohm first pressed the bicycle industry to support Bikes Belong, a national coalition of suppliers and retailers working together to secure funding for bicycle programs and infrastructure. Leslie still serves as a Bikes Belong director.

ISTEA reauthorization. During the reauthorization of the national Intermodal Surface Transportation Efficiency Act from 1996 to 1998, Leslie worked as the bicycle industry's representative, successfully helping to secure funding for bicycle programs.

Spreading the word. In 2005, Catalyst earned the Bicycle Products Suppliers Association (BPSA) Advocacy Award in recognition of Catalyst's inclusion of advocacy info in mailings to over 3 million consumers. Using our ability in highly customized printing, we generated pro-bike postcards addressed to each consumer's US Senator. The overall effort was successful with the 2005 federal transportation bill including over 4 billion dollars for bicycle/pedestrian facilities.

Efforts continue. Catalyst continues to support the annual Bicycle Summit, which brings together industry and advocacy leaders and was a founding member of the Bikes Belong Foundation.
